Learn best practices for building dashboards from code

Are you overwhelmed by the number of dashboards that you need to manage and wish you could reuse some of the things you’ve built? Or maybe you’ve already started your journey to manage dashboards from code, but you are unsure on best practices and what tools you should use.

Then this is the session for you.

In this hands-on lab, we will walk you through common use cases, and then we’ll help you compose dashboards and build your own pipeline to deploy them into a Grafana instance.

By the end of the three hours, you will be able to:

  • Understand best practices of building dashboards from code.
  • Use the Grafana Foundation SDK to create dashboards in your preferred programming language.
  • Create reusable dashboard components to monitor your services and combine them to create standard dashboards for your organization.
  • Create a pipeline for deploying dashboards, using recommended tools and guidelines.

Requirements:

  • Linux/MacOS/WSL2
  • Docker

We will provide a docker-compose file containing what is needed for the workshop. This session is tailored for developers, SREs, and platform engineers.

Workshops are only available for in-person conference attendees, and they will all be held on Tuesday, May 6. You may register for up to one morning workshop and one afternoon workshop. Workshop tickets can only be purchased along with a conference ticket.
