Week Three
Nissan Leaf -> Cloud all the things
Tuesday, May 19, 2020 12:30 ET / 16:30 UTC | 50 min
Description
Come join me on an adventure to analyze and improve my driving behavior and driving routes to get the most range out of my all-electric Nissan Leaf. You will get to see how you can use Grafana, Cortex, Loki, and other amazing open source technologies on a $35 Raspberry Pi to process and store over 1000 messages/second from the vehicle CAN bus along with GPS data and even camera images! You will also get to see how this data can be streamed in real time to a dashboard to provide instantaneous feedback while driving, then later the same data can be used for further analysis and even playback of events. All this in hopes of helping me learn what driving behaviors and what combination of roads let me squeak the most range out of my battery without leaving me stranded on the side of the road holding an extension cord.
