Enter Prometheus data source authentication credentials

Every time Grafana Cloud queries your Prometheus data source, the security settings you have configured for that data source dictate whether the query can successfully execute and retrieve data from the Prometheus database.

Your Prometheus instance’s security configuration may be basic, use OAuth, or have no security at all.

Authentication is set up on the Prometheus server during its initial configuration. To complete this step in your journey, you need to know which type of authentication it uses and have the corresponding credentials.

To enter Prometheus data source authentication credentials, complete the following steps:

  1. In the Authentication method field, select a method of authentication.

    This examples uses Basic authentication.

  2. For basic authentication, enter the username and password.

In the next step of your journey, you’ll select a PDC agent.
