Use Grafana IRM

Grafana IRM provides a unified platform for responding to alerts, managing incidents, and coordinating team response efforts. This section covers the day-to-day operational workflows and features you’ll use to handle alerts and incidents effectively.

Key workflows

The IRM user workflows focus on three primary areas:

  • Alert management: Receive, acknowledge, and resolve alerts from your monitoring systems
  • Incident response: Declare, investigate, and coordinate the resolution of incidents
  • Mobile response: Manage alerts and incidents on the go with the IRM mobile app

Alert response

When alerts trigger in your monitoring systems, Grafana IRM helps you manage them efficiently:

  • View and acknowledge alerts: See all active alerts, acknowledge them to indicate you’re investigating
  • Escalate alerts: Manually escalate alerts or let automatic escalation chains notify the right people
  • Resolve or silence alerts: Mark issues as fixed or temporarily silence notifications

Incident management

When an alert indicates a larger issue requiring coordinated response:

  • Declare incidents: Create incidents from alerts or manually to mobilize responders
  • Coordinate response: Assign roles, collaborate in dedicated channels, and track incident progress
  • Document and resolve: Record key events, resolve the incident, and document learnings

Mobile app

The Grafana IRM mobile app enables on-the-go incident and alert management:

  • Receive notifications: Get push notifications for alerts and incidents
