Connect notification channels
Notification channels are the methods through which Grafana IRM sends alerts to users. Before users can add steps to their notification rules, the appropriate channels must be configured.
Mobile push notifications (recommended)
The Grafana IRM mobile app provides push notifications and allows you to receive alert notifications directly to your mobile device, with Do Not Disturb and volume override settings.

Messaging apps
For messaging apps, configuration and authentication is required at both the organization and user level.
- Admin setup: An administrator configures messaging app integrations at the organization level
- User setup: Users connect their accounts to configure notification rules
Slack notifications
After admin setup is complete, users can connect their Slack accounts:
- Navigate to the IRM tab of your Profile
- Click Slack connection
- Click Open Slack connection page
- Authorize your Slack account to receive notifications

Microsoft Teams notifications
- Navigate to the IRM tab of your Profile
- Click MS Teams connection
- Copy the linkUser command and send it as a direct message to the IRM bot
- Refresh the page to confirm the connection

Telegram integration
- Navigate to the IRM tab of your Profile
- Click Telegram connection
- Copy the verification code and send it to the OnCall Dev Bot in Telegram
- Refresh the page to complete the setup
Phone calls and SMS
- Navigate to the IRM tab of your Profile
- Select Phone verification
- Enter your phone number and country code
- Click Send verification code and enter the code received via SMS

Email notifications
Email is automatically available if your user profile includes a verified email address. It’s best suited for non-urgent alerts or summary notifications.
Verify your email address
- In Grafana Cloud, navigate to your user profile
- Verify that your email address is correct
Outgoing webhooks
Outgoing webhooks allow you to send notifications to external services or applications that aren’t directly supported.
