Grafana Labs at FOSDEM 2023: OpenTelemetry, continuous profiling, and more
We are all excited to be at FOSDEM in person again! FOSDEM had some of the best virtual events I’ve ever attended, but nothing beats in-person events and live audiences. FOSDEM is also well-known for its hallway track, which can only be experienced in real life.
If you have never heard about FOSDEM, then I’m happy to tell you that it’s the largest open source conference of its type on Earth — free for attendees and run by volunteers. The event takes place on the first weekend of February every year (Feb. 4 to 5 this year) in Brussels at the Université Libre de Bruxelles. There will be around 8,000 attendees, 759 lectures, and 55 different developer rooms (a.k.a. devrooms).
FOSDEM gives us an opportunity to talk directly to our users, to meet the wider monitoring and observability community, and to share ideas about how we all can build better monitoring and observability solutions. Grafana integrates with many different data sources, so FOSDEM is a great opportunity for us to engage with many users, contributors, and maintainers of various software in the same place.
Meet us at the Grafana Labs FOSDEM stand
This is our fifth year having a Grafana Labs stand at FOSDEM. Every year we hear amazing stories about how our tools are used and get great feedback directly from the community. One of my personal favorite stories from FOSDEM is about how Grafana can be used to monitor bee hives.
If you have any questions or feedback about Grafana Labs open source software, or just want to spend some time with monitoring and observability enthusiasts, don’t hesitate to find us on the first floor in the K building. If you want stickers, we also have you covered. There will always be stickers at the Grafana Labs stand!
Learn more about OpenTelemetry, continuous profiling, and application monitoring
Fabian Stäber, Richard “RichiH” Hartmann, and I have been organizing the Monitoring and Observability devroom at FOSDEM for seven years now. This year it will be on Sunday, Feb. 5 in Lameere UB2.252A (Lameere) – the largest room after Janson. It’s been fascinating to review submissions for so many years and see how the industry is changing. The big focus areas this year have been OpenTelemetry, continuous profiling, and eBPF.
- Sunday, 09:00 - 09:05 RichiH Hartmann - Monitoring and Observability Devroom opening
- Sunday, 10:30 - 11:00 Fabian Stäber - Application monitoring with Grafana and OpenTelemetry
