Our new partnership with AWS gives Grafana users more options
At AWS re:Invent today, Dr. Werner Vogels, VP and CTO of Amazon.com, announced a partnership between AWS and Grafana Labs, resulting in the Amazon Managed Service for Grafana, a scalable managed offering that provides AWS customers a native way to run Grafana directly within AWS alongside all their other AWS services.
We’d like to give a big thanks to the whole Grafana community. Not only have they inspired us with so many great use cases, but they help us build better software every day. There are over 600,000 active installations of Grafana (that we can see) in the wild, and it has become the operational dashboard technology and frontend of choice for observability.
AWS clearly recognizes the strength of our community, and this new offering helps meet the demand from its customers for Grafana. As a company, we want to make sure that Grafana is available wherever and however it makes the most sense for our users. And that, ultimately, is at the heart of our partnership with AWS.
We are also collaborating with AWS on its new Amazon Managed Service for Prometheus, built on the Cortex project for running Prometheus at scale. This service can complement Amazon Managed Service for Grafana. The Cortex maintainers (including its co-creator) who work at Grafana Labs bring their expertise to the collaboration, while the numerous Prometheus maintainers on our staff are continually shaping the direction both projects take. This launch, too, is a testament to the power of community and open source.
At Grafana Labs, we are focused on helping our customers achieve success with their observability strategy. They value choice and interoperability, which is why Grafana’s composable observability stack has become so popular; it allows them to bring together and understand all their data, no matter where it lives.
We are excited that customers using Amazon Managed Service for Grafana can seamlessly upgrade to the full Grafana Enterprise experience, allowing them to amplify their existing IT investments by bringing data together through data source plugins for ServiceNow, Splunk, Snowflake, Datadog, MongoDB, Oracle, New Relic, Dynatrace, Wavefront, and AppDynamics. Grafana Enterprise customers get expert 24x7x365 support directly from Grafana Labs, as well as customized training and professional services.
Grafana Labs also offers a full stack on Grafana Cloud (which includes Grafana Loki for logs, Prometheus and Graphite for metrics, and Grafana Tempo for tracing). This complete and highly integrated offering is ideal for customers both large and small. In addition, we recently launched Grafana Enterprise Metrics, which is an enhanced version of Cortex designed for running Prometheus-as-a-service in an on-premise environment.
We’ve built out this slate of offerings to meet our users where they are. We’re looking forward to seeing where the community takes us next.
