Grafana Labs’ Marco Pracucci (Cortex maintainer) and Red Hat’s Bartłomiej Płotka (Thanos co-author) join forces to talk about how the two potentially competing CNCF projects have built a tight collaboration over the years. Originally designed with totally different approaches to the same goal of scaling Prometheus, the two projects started to learn from and even influence each other – thanks to open source.

Prometheus maintainer Ganesh Vernekar gives an overview of the improvements and optimizations to TSDB, the Prometheus storage engine, made over the past year. These include: isolation, memory mapping of head chunks, and memory optimizations for loading blocks and compaction.
