As Grafana Labs continues to grow, we’d like you to get to know the team members who are building the cool stuff you’re using. Check out the latest of our Friday team profiles.

Meet Tobias!

Name: Tobias Skarhed

Tobias Skarhed
Grafana Labs Frontend Engineer Tobias Skarhed

Current location/time zone: During the summer I’m in Stockholm, but when I study I’m in Luleå, very near the Arctic circle in northern Sweden.

What do you do at Grafana Labs? I do frontend development as a summer intern! During the year, I am studying to become a space engineer at Luleå University of Technology.

What open source projects do you contribute to? Grafana! Otherwise I have my own silly hobby projects I dabble around with from time to time.

What are your GitHub and Twitter handles? You can find me on GitHub as dehrax and on Twitter as @tskarhed.

What do you like to do in your free time? I like to sing with my choir! I used to do a lot of running, but at the moment I’m recovering from a leg injury. Sometimes I go hiking if I find some friends who want to join.

Do you like to code in silence, with music or ambient noise on your headphones, or with people talking around you? Usually with music. Anything goes!

What do you do to get “in the zone” when you code? Remove distractions, make sure notifications are turned off, put on some headphones, and get grinding! Almost missed a couple of meetings because of this. (Sorry for being 5 minutes late that one time!)

Favorite ice cream flavor? Regular vanilla with small pieces of chocolate in it. Nothing fancy. It’s all about enjoying the small pieces in life, isn’t it? ;)

What’s the last thing you binge-watched? Last proper binge-watch was Chernobyl. I would highly recommend!

Spaces or tabs? I prefer tabs. I’m glad I don’t have relationship problems because of it. Since I’m solution-oriented and do actually care about the people who use spaces, I have set up my text editor to convert tabs to spaces.
